Order Placement

Note for Manitoba Customers ONLY – Orders for all Brewery products distributed by Brewers Distributor Ltd. are accepted by the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission (MLCC) order office. Sign on to the Manitoba page on this site for details.

For all other customers, TWO options are available to licensees placing beer orders:

1. Order Beer On-Line

On this site you will find all the information you need to register for and use BDL’s online ordering application. See  ”Online Ordering” for complete details.

2. Order by Phone

Beer orders may be placed by contacting BDL’s Order Board with telephone charges paid by Brewers’ Distributor Ltd.

Please have your provincial licensee number ready. Products are to be ordered using BDL’s short product code – ordering using this code significantly reduces the opportunity for keying errors. To ensure order accuracy and facilitate counting at time of delivery customers are encouraged to order full pallets or full pallet tiers where possible (please refer to your Province Specific page for detailed Pallet Configuration).

Please listen carefully to ensure your order is accurate. Quantities and brands are read back before the value of the order and order number is provided. Customer service representatives can also provide customers with the number of packages, numbers of equivalent dozen, and the GST value of the order when requested. Note: If you wish to avoid a lengthy read back, you may simply compare your total number of packages with the order desk agent by requesting a package count.

Please remember to contact Brewers Distributor Ltd. on your regularly scheduled order day. We request that customers order sufficient product for weekly delivery. Large volume customers should contact the order desk and discuss their delivery requirements with the customer service representatives.

Customer Communications

New Product Launches
When Labatt and Molson introduce new products or reintroduce products, customers are normally advised by the respective brewery sales representative assigned to their geographic location, or through marketing flyers issued by the brewers.

Christmas Closure
During November and December, BDL faxes to all customers, a communication regarding order desk and warehouse hours over the holiday season.

We recognize that Christmas is a demanding time of year for all those within our industry. As a result, BDL will make every effort to be responsive to your needs. This is accomplished through minimizing the closure dates, and reminding customers to increase volume purchased.

The BDL warehouse supervisors will endeavor to accommodate those customers who require additional deliveries or alternative delivery arrangements providing this information is communicated by the customer to the nearest BDL warehouse at least 2 weeks prior to the holiday.

Price List
On the first day of each month, BDL makes a Labatt & Molson price list available to all customers. This price list reflects all product and price activity, which includes new product launches, product reintroductions, the removal of de-listed products and price changes that are in effect as to the first business day of the month. Prices, however, do continue to be subject to change throughout the month.

Products that have been introduced since the previous month’s price list issuance or have changed price, are highlighted in bold and in italic so that they are easily identified as changes to customers. All our price lists also have a “Customer Tip” indicated each month. For confidentiality and competitive reasons, price lists will not be released to customers before the first business day of the month.

Beer Storage Tips

Bottled Beer
Although bottled beer is pasteurized to prolong its storage life, it is a perishable foodstuff. Bottled beer is best stored in a cool, dark place. Beer that is exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight will lose its flavour. Beer must also be protected from freezing, otherwise it takes on a cloudy appearance and should not be served.

Draught Beer
Draught beer must be stored under refrigeration, ideally at a temperature of 3 to 4 degrees Celsius (38 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit). Draught beer is subject to considerable agitation while in transit. To avoid the problem of too much foam (wild beer), kegs should be kept stationary for 24 hours after receipt. Do not order more draught than you can store in your cooler, or more than you can expect to serve in a two-week period.

Freshness Code
To assist licensees in determining the “age” of their beer, code dates have been stenciled on each beer package as follows:

  • Letter “A” through “M” (excluding the letter “I”) identifies the month the product was bottled. For example, “A” denotes January, “B” denotes February, etc.
  • Numbers immediately following the first letter identify the date of the month that the beer was bottled. For example, “A21″ denotes January 21st.
  • For code dates on imported brewery products please contact the appropriate brewer representative.
  • For easy identification of keg “fill dates”, each is stamped with a production date.
